Glow Plug Control Units

The Glow Plug Control Unit is a key part of the flawless starting operation of a cold engine. It is fitted with a microcontroller to define information like the timing, the specific electrical current size and duration supplied to the electronically controlled Glow Plug. The advanced technology found in the Glow Plug Control Unit combined with the Glow Plug succeeds in its purpose of improving the efficiency of the ignition process, significantly speeding it up, especially in low temperatures.

  • All the parts are engineered and manufactured in the BorgWarner R&D and production centers in Western Europe, ensuring consistency in quality and OEM quality
  • BorgWarner parts are developed in synergy with OEM glow plugs
  • With BorgWarner Glow Plug Control Units, you’re ensured a long-term collaboration,

Ignition Module/ Switching Unit

Also known as the switching unit, the ignition module is used to regulate the current and dwell angle for transistor ignition systems using a hall sensor or inductive sensor. The module provides for reliable spark distribution in modern ignition systems with rotary high voltage distribution — a task that in older, conventional coil ignition systems was performed by the contact sets. Expect a reliable spark distribution.

  • Tested in the BERU® facilities, OE quality;
  • Protection against corrosion of the connections and housing;
  • High thermal resistance meaning increased functional reliability;
  • Variants in the range include cooling plates or thermally conductive paste.

Distributor Caps and Distributor Rotors

Our BERU® OE quality motorparts are especially matched to the requirements of the individual ignition systems. The variation in materials and different forms of contacts and clamping arrangements are a short route to durable performance results for almost all car makes.

  • Insulating, high voltage resistant material (e.g. phenol, epoxy resin);
  • Laquered inside and outside for further protection against condensed water and chemical effects;
  • System-specific connector area with SAE, DIN, serrated teeth or M4 connectors;
  • System-specific bracket, screw or spring clip attachment;
  • With/without screening cover made of conductive plastic for returning interference to ground and to maintain electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) in accordance with manufacturers’ requirements.
